Insectocaptors

Before choosing an electric trap for flying insects we should keep in mind the following questions: Previous questions about insectocutters and ultraviolet traps:

How many m2 do we want to protect?
Do I need it for indoor or outdoor use?
Where will it be placed: housing, factory, warehouse, restaurant, etc.?
Do I need a product approved by the Ministry of Health?

Insect killers and ultraviolet traps to kill insects

Having answered the above questions, it is important to keep in mind the difference between insectocaptor and electrocutor.

Differences between insectocaptor and electrocutor

Both perform the function of eliminating flying insects using the attraction produced by the ultraviolet light emitted by the tubes, the difference is in how they eliminate them:

Electrocutters, electrocutters or electric discharge grills

They only have UV tubes to attract insects and die by electrocution. They are primarily intended for homes. When choosing an insectocutor, keep in mind the coverage according to wattage and access points, whether it has a collection tray, consumption (LED grills consume less), and the ease with which you can move the device from one room to another.

The insect catchers

Insect catchers trap insects on an adhesive plate. They have UV tubes to attract the flying insect and adhesive plates that attract and get stuck. They are mainly intended for companies and public establishments. They are approved by the Ministry of Health with the HACCP method (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points in production chains).

Coverage of insect catchers

The coverage that protects an insect catcher will depend on the wattage (W) of the bulb or UV tube. The more watts, the more space can be protected. Another factor to determine the power is to know how many access points (windows and doors) the space has. If there is only one door or window, it is not necessary to buy several machines since only one will be enough.

Range of insect catchers

Decorative insect guard

discreet machines for restaurants, cafeterias, canteens, food stores, offices and homes.

Industrial Insectocutor

more robust machines designed for critical areas of the food industry in food production, packaging and storage areas in industrial, agricultural or livestock environments.

Special Protection Insect Control

specific range for industries with other special requirements such as the presence of water or humidity in the environment, or explosive atmospheres (ATEX).

Tubes, bulbs and adhesive plates

Each machine has adhesive plates and specific UV tubes or bulbs. The main manufacturers of tubes and bulbs recommend changing the tube once a year, even if it is not fused, since the effectiveness of attraction of ultraviolet light decreases over the months. It is recommended to have them always on, 24 hours a day, every day of the week to ensure maximum effectiveness. It is recommended to change the adhesive plates every 2 months at the most, and to change them earlier if the plate is already full due to a possible case of infestation. The plates have a wide grid to facilitate the counting of flying insects by the pest control professionals who maintain the device.

Frequently asked questions about Insectocutters and ultraviolet traps for insect killers

Are insect catchers valid for the food industry?

Yes, if they are approved by the EC and by the HACCP method of the Ministry of Health. Only insect catchers are authorized, i.e. with adhesive plates and shatterproof tubes.

What is HACCP?

Hazard analysis and critical control points. It is a management system in which food safety is addressed through the identification, analysis and control of raw materials, processing and consumption of the finished product. Our insect catchers have this certification.

What are shatterproof tubes or bulbs?

Shatterproof tubes or bulbs have a high quality Teflon coating that prevents shrapnel and mercury from being projected onto food in case of breakage. They are especially recommended for use in the food industry where food is packaged, handled or processed.

What happens if I don't change the adhesive plates?

It can slow down the rate at which flying insects are captured, especially if the plate is already infested. We will not be able to properly monitor the plate or properly perform the adhesive plate grid count.

What happens if I don't change the tubes? What if I turn off the light at night?

The system must operate 24 hours a day. At night is when more flying insects are caught. It is recommended to change the tubes after 1 year, the UV tube loses attraction intensity and could catch less insects.

Which power should I choose?

It depends on the infestation of flying insects, the entrance areas and the m2 we want to protect. Consult the technical data sheets of our products to see what power you need. The available power ranges from 20W to 80W.

At what height should we place the machines?

The ideal height is between 2 meters and 2.5 meters from the ground.

Is it plugged in?

It does work plugged in. It has a 240V - 50HZ operation.

Does it have a high power consumption?

The insect catchers have energy saving bulbs and tubes. If you are very concerned about energy consumption, LED insect catchers consume 75% less energy (5W), it is 50% more attractive than a UVA compact fluorescent lamp (CFL). By changing the LED bulb every 3 years, it generates less waste and is environmentally friendly.

Is it toxic to use insect catchers?

No, they are free of toxics, chemicals and odors. They are not harmful to health or the environment. European regulations are moving towards poison-free pest control, as the consequences for health and the environment are becoming more and more evident.

Why are flying insects dangerous?

Flying insects have the greatest potential to transmit diseases to humans. And they transmit it through bites, stings or tissue infection. The most important mode of transmission is through blood feeding. Flying insects in all their variants since they are often in contact with contaminated objects such as animal feces and organic waste such as garbage from which they feed and then land on food. That is why it is important to control them in the food chain, from the time the food is produced until it is consumed.
